2025 Ford F-150 STX

Picking the right trim makes all the difference. Some trims cost too much money for what they offer, while some play it safe and don’t make enough difference to warrant upgrading over whichever trim comes before. With the 2025 Ford F-150 STX, Ford has created a truck and trim that work well with one another.
The STX adds much to the experience over what you can get with the base XL trim. However, it doesn’t break the bank and remains one of the more cost-effective ways of getting the most from a 2025 F-150. The F-150 has been the best-selling truck for decades. Although the STX wasn’t there when the F-150 was first released, it’s an excellent example of how far Ford has come since. The F-150 STX has done a great job of formalizing what many perceive as the perfect jumping-in point for aspiring truck shoppers because it has the performance and many features people have grown to love about Ford’s full-size pickup truck.

Performance

The 2025 Ford F-150 STX is a strong pickup truck. Although the 2025 F-150 has six distinct powertrain configurations, the STX trim narrows this down to two. This makes it easier and less time-consuming to narrow it further to the engine you wish to see under the hood of your truck. The two engines available for the 2025 F-150 STX are favorites of ours because they help keep the trim at a modest price compared to the higher-end ones, and provide performance levels that can satiate millions of drivers’ wants and needs. They both come paired with the same 10-speed automatic transmission as the more premium F-150 engines, calling for a pleasant ride accentuated by smooth acceleration, and complemented by tight braking.
The Standard 2.7L EcoBoost Turbocharged V6 Engine
The standard engine for the 2025 F-150 STX is a turbocharged 2.7L EcoBoost V6 engine. There are three reasons why this is an excellent standard engine. First, EcoBoost technology allows Ford’s engines to remain fuel-efficient, which is important for a turbocharged engine where traditionally more air enters the combustion chamber. Secondly, it’s capable of hauling a payload capacity of up to 1,775 lbs and has a maximum towing capacity of 8,400 lbs—it supports Class IV tow hitches. Lastly, the turbocharged 2.7L V6 engine is an excellent standard engine because it outputs 325 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque, yet still provides the best fuel efficiency outside of the F-150 Hybrid. It has EPA-estimated ratings of 19 MPG in the city, 25 MPG on the highway, and 21 MPG combined.
The Available 5.0L V8 Engine
What if you wanted the most performance from your 2025 F-150 STX? The available 5.0L V8 engine, known as “Coyote,” has what you’re looking for. Everything is upgraded—except fuel efficiency, and the transmission remains the same—with the Coyote engine, including horsepower, torque, towing/payload capacities, and four-wheel drive (4WD).
The 5.0L V8 engine helps the 2025 F-150 STX achieve 400 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque to improve towing and payload capacities to 12,900 lbs and 2,225 lbs, respectively. This immediately enables compatibility for Class V tow hitches, and it’s the second-best payload capacity you can get with any 2025 F-150. It also achieves respectable fuel efficiency ratings regardless of whether you use rear-wheel drive (RWD) or 4WD. The EPA-estimated ratings are 16 MPG in the city, 24 MPG on the highway, and 19 MPG combined. Another reason why the 2025 F-150 STX has great fuel efficiency is its standard 36-gallon fuel tank, while the base model has a 23-gallon fuel tank.
Other Notable Features
The 2025 F-150 STX shines with the Coyote V8 engine under the hood and 4WD equipped because it’s a trim that begs for adventure. 4×4 STX models come with all-terrain tires standard, with more to choose from, while RWD models have great all-season tires. Drive modes are standard with every F-150 STX, but what’s great about this trim is that it supports all available drive modes, including the ones exclusive to 4×4 models.
The drive modes standard with every model include Normal for typical operations, Sport for improved acceleration, effective for gaining speed on the freeway, ECO to improve fuel efficiency, Tow/Haul, Slippery for wet road conditions, and Trail. Opting for 4WD with your 2025 F-150 STX introduces Deep Snow/Sand, and Mud/Rut, perfect for any season or terrain. You can maximize your truck’s off-roading potential with these easy additions.
Packages

The Black Appearance Package
The 2025 F-150 STX can be equipped with many packages. Some available packages are exclusive to the STX. For example, the STX Black Appearance Package gives the truck a sleeker aesthetic, with 20-inch glossy black wheels, black Ford badging, and 6-inch black running boards. This package is available for RWD and 4WD F-150 STX models, but only the latter gets a gray box side decal.
The FX4 Package
You can be a serious off-roader and get much enjoyment from a 2025 F-150 STX. The available STX FX4 package goes a long way in helping you tackle tough trails and providing a competent off-roading experience. This equipment group complements 4×4 models with exclusive off-road all-terrain tires and large 20-inch dark gray wheels, skid plates for undercarriage protection from trail debris, and an electronic locking rear differential, among other additions.
The Mobile Office Package
The 2025 F-150 STX supports the available Mobile Office Package, which isn’t available for the base XL trim. The aptly-named Mobile Office Package helps turn your F-150’s cabin into an impromptu office that accompanies you on the job site and provides everything a blue-collar worker needs for the work day. This package includes a console work surface that you can fold from your center console, opening a work surface large enough to accommodate laptops or tablets for typing, clipboards for writing, or lunch for eating. The Mobile Office Package also introduces two 400W power outlets to the F-150 STX—one in the cabin and one in the bed.
The Tow/Haul Package
The Tow/Haul package is also available to those who buy the 2025 F-150 STX. This package requires the Coyote V8 engine. The Tow/Haul package is worth buying if you want the best towing performance out of your truck. It has an Integrated Trailer Brake Controller and a 3.73 electronic-locking rear axle. Purchasing one or several packages with a 2025 F-150 STX can greatly enhance its style and capabilities and is well worth the money.
Features

The 2025 F-150 STX has many of the F-150’s best features standard. Select features are optional with the STX but unavailable for the XL, meaning many drivers looking for specific features will begin their search with the STX. For example, LED fog lamps don’t come standard with the XL; they’re optional. However, if you want LED fog and cornering lamps, you can’t get them with the XL, but they’re standard with the STX.
Lighting and Mirrors
The STX is also the first trim where Zone Lighting and LED Mirror-Mounted Spotlights become optional. Zone Lighting means you turn on lights built around your vehicle’s exterior. These lights are stationed within controllable individualized zones you can select and control through your infotainment center screen. The STX also enables the option of turn-signal lights implemented on your side mirrors. These look great and accomplish a blend of style and functionality. Manual telescoping trailer tow side mirrors are a great option because they give you a better view of your trailer at a glance and make it easier to switch lanes, thanks to the added visibility they offer.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The infotainment center experience is excellent. The 2025 F-150 STX has a standard 12-inch touch screen. Here, you’ll control everything Ford’s SYNC 4 infotainment center offers. Connectivity with smartphones remains exceptional, with support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard. The SYNC 4 system supports voice recognition outside of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while each of those respective suites has built-in voice control functionality, too. Your wireless internet devices will have fast and stable connection speeds to your truck’s built-in 5G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, which is perfect for either connecting your work devices to the internet while on a job site, or if you’re driving with friends and family who wish to use their wireless devices for the trip.
The Ford Co-Pilot360 Safety Suite
Ford’s Co-Pilot360 safety suite is standard with the 2025 F-150 STX. Intersection Assist 2.0 is available for the STX. This feature implements cameras and sensors at the front of your vehicle to detect other cars or pedestrians when turning at an intersection, where you may not have a protected left turn, for example. This feature allows the truck to apply the brakes to prevent collisions without the driver’s input, much like the standard Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, but while turning at intersections.
Aside from the myriad of features that come standard with Co-Pilot 360 2.0, the 2025 F-150 STX also comes standard with BLIS with Cross-Traffic Alert, which works with trailers. BLIS stands for Blind Spot Information System. It uses cameras and sensors positioned on the sides of your truck to detect when another vehicle is traveling in your blind spot, whether it’s your truck or trailer’s blind spot. An indicator appears on whichever side mirror corresponds to the clogged blind spot—left, right, or both. Cross Traffic Alert repurposes these sensors when reversing your truck to detect any oncoming traffic and alert you of their presence.
