Looking Forward to the New 2021 Ford F-150 Redesign

When it comes to trucks, no one does it better than Ford. As the manufacturer of American’s favorite pick-up, Ford has a reputation to uphold with every new production year. And that is the reason everyone has been looking forward to the new 2021 Ford F-150 redesign. Ford trucks are well known for being strong, capable, and reliable, and the latest production line should be better than ever before. While we do not yet have all the details surrounding this new truck, we do have some. Additionally, we have some educated guesses about the information we do not officially have. Are you curious about the 2021 Ford F-150? Keep reading!
When Is It Coming Out?
If you’re excited about this upcoming model, you will not have to wait long. According to the North America Product Communications Manager, Mike Levine, the 2021 Ford F-150 will be unveiled this summer. Production was initially delayed, but everything has been sorted out. You can expect to see the new 2021 Ford F-150 on our DePaula Ford lot soon!
What’s Under the Hood?
There is a lot of speculation going on about the powertrain lineup for the new 2021 Ford F-150 redesign. Some experts suggest that there may be four different engines to choose from. Our best guess is that the powertrain lineup will start with a 3.3-liter V6 engine that generates 290 hp. That will most likely be followed by a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 motor that produces 325 hp, and then a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 that makes 375 hp. There is even talk of the popular 5.0-liter V8 engine making a return, although that has yet to be verified. Diesel lovers may get the 3.0-liter PowerStroke V6 motor, and there is also talk of a hybrid powertrain that combines a battery-fed electric motor to the 3.5-liter V6 engine.
What about the fourth engine we mentioned? Well, speculation says, there is one more powertrain surprise that Ford has up its metaphorical sleeve.

What’s the Surprise?
The Ford F-150 has been America’s #1 selling truck for over 40 years. No one has been able to touch it as far as performance, ability, and popularity have been concerned. Now, the only way to stay on top of the game is to continue providing groundbreaking technology. So, what is the big surprise that will keep the Ford F-150 in the top spot?
The new 2021 model might be available as a fully-electric truck. That’s right! We are talking about a Ford F-150 EV. Although the folks at Ford have hinted that an F-150 EV was in the works, it has been entirely speculation. Now, it seems that Ford engineers may have done the impossible. We do not have any details yet about this fully-electric powertrain. Still, we can only assume that it will offer performance stats that are comparable to the other engines in the lineup.
Are There Any High-Tech Upgrades?
The spokespeople for Ford have kept their cards close to the chest during the last few months. There have not been very many details that have slipped out. Thanks to prototype sightings and leaked interior photos, experts have gathered that we can expect to see a larger infotainment interface. The standard touchscreen will measure 8-inches diagonally, but the monitor equipped on the higher trims is rumored to be over 15-inches. Operating with the new Sync 4 infotainment system, this unit will work with Bluetooth phone/audio connectivity, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 4G LTE Wifi hotspot. Available options may include a navigation system, satellite radio, and a premium-quality Bang & Olufsen sound system.
Another nifty upgrade is rumored to be the ability to receive over-the-air (OTA) updates. This could mean that any system updates can be instantly downloaded to the vehicle’s infotainment system without having to connect to any source. It would work somewhat like receiving radio waves, but these would be digital.
What Does the Cabin Look Like?
Although we have not seen full photos of the interior just yet, we can speculate that the interior will be well-appointed. Featuring new technology, premium materials, and many convenience features, we expect every trim to be comfortable and satisfying. There should be plenty of leg and headroom for front and back seat passengers as well.
How Many Trims Are There?
As of now, we know of six trims starting at about $30,000 and going up to $70,000. Even though we have no details about what all is included on these trims, the current trim listing consists of the XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited. The base XL is expected to be a work truck trim that only has the bare basics. And while we recommend looking to purchase at least a level two XLT, the Lariat has proven to be one of the most popular trims over the last few years.
What Kind of Performance Can We Expect?
While the complete list of powertrains has not yet been released, we assume that the new 2021 Ford F-150 models will be able to tow at least 13,000 pounds. This is based on the previous production years. The estimated fuel economies cannot be determined at this time, but these numbers will most likely be released before the vehicle’s debut.
Does It Come with Safety Systems?

Ford is well known for providing great safety systems inside its lineup of vehicles. The representatives at Ford still have not said what we will get, but we assume that there will be a great selection of driver assistance features available. Some of these safety systems may include automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and lane-departure warning. Blindspot monitoring, forward collision warning, rain-sensing wipers, and rear cross-traffic alert may also be available on certain trims. We will just have to wait and see.
What Does the Warranty Look Like?
The new 2021 Ford F-150 models will be covered by Ford’s standard 3-Year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and the 5-Year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty. This excellent coverage has been around for a while, and we do not expect it to change any time soon.
What Body Styles Are Available?
The same three cab styles and two bed lengths will carry over into the 2021 version of the F-150. You can expect to see regular, extended, and crew cabs that can seat two to six people, as well as the long and short bed length options. These trucks will be suitable for single folks as well as work crews and families. IT just depends on what you are looking for in your next set of wheels.
