The Ford Tradition
By choosing a Ford dealership near Poughkeepsie, NY, you become a part of the award-winning Ford tradition that dates back more than a century. That is something that few other manufacturers can offer, and it is why so many people that drive a Ford become fans for life. The Ford legacy is one of constantly pushing the envelope, developing amazing new vehicles and innovative technologies, and delivering those advancements to customers at a great price.
From the Model T that revolutionized cars in the early 1900s, to the introduction of the flathead V8 engine in the 1930s, and the development of the Ford F-Series of trucks in the 1940s – the Ford brand has defined the American automotive experience for generations. When you sit in a Ford Mustang, whether it is a brand new model or one from a few years ago, you can feel decades of legendary development and craftsmanship in every last bit of it. That is what the Ford tradition and legacy is all about: decades of experience that define each vehicle and a dedication to pushing technology forward with each new generation.

Before You Leave Poughkeepsie
There are three ways to get to DePaula Ford from Poughkeepsie, each with its own fun excursions along the way.
One of the things that Poughkeepsie is known for is its diverse cuisine. This may be due to the fact that the campus of the world-famous Culinary Institute of America is just north of town (more about that place later). As a result, Poughkeepsie has become a hub of the growing American culinary experience. If you are heading out to us in the morning and want to grab a delicious breakfast, you might consider Alex’s Restaurant at 1 Market Street. This delightful spot is known for its friendly service and offers vegetarian and gluten-free options in addition to the usual breakfast standards.
Taking the New York State Thruway
The fastest way to reach us at DePaula Ford is by taking the Mid-Hudson Bridge to I-87, also known as the New York State Thruway. This will take you on a straight shot up the west bank of the Hudson River to our dealership. Get on I-87 north in New Paltz from the Bridge, and stay on until Exit 23 for I-787 N toward Troy. Use the right two lanes to take exit 5 to merge onto I-90 W toward Buffalo. Then, take exit 5 for Everett Road. Use one of the two left lanes to turn left onto Everett Road Exit. Turn right onto Central Avenue. 799 Central Avenue will be on your right.
If you have some free time, you might want to stop off at Historic Huguenot Street in New Paltz, just across the bridge and before you get on the Thruway. This is a 10-acre National Historic Landmark District that reconstructs the lives of the French Huguenot community that settled in this part of New York State back in the early 1700s. Historical re-enactors will help guide you through this fascinating trip back in time while you explore the historic buildings. Guided tours operate from late May to December 1; however, tours are available during the off-season by appointment.
Going Via the Taconic
If you aren’t in too much of a rush, you might consider driving the scenic Taconic State Parkway. Take Salt Point Turnpike east about 12.7 miles to Clinton Corners. Follow the signs to the Taconic State Parkway, also known as I-90 West. After about 46 miles, follow the signs to merge onto I-90 West. Take exit B1 for I-90 toward US-9/Albany/Hudson. Continue on I-90W. Take exit 5 for Everett Road. Use one of the two left lanes to turn left onto Everett Road Ext. Turn right onto Central Avenue. 799 Central Avenue will be on your right.
On your way to the Taconic, there are a number of fun places that you and your family can stop off along the way. If you’ve got young children, or simply love animals, then check out Sprout Creek Farm. Featuring some of the most adorable baby goats and calves in the Hudson Valley, Sprout Creek Farm is also fun for adults, especially those who love cheese. Sprout Creek Farm is located at 34 Lauer Road. Just take Route 55 east out of Poughkeepsie.
The Truly Scenic Route
One of the most enjoyable ways to get here from Poughkeepsie to our dealership is to take NY-9G north out of town. Head northwest on Reservoir Square toward S. Clinton Street, exiting the traffic circle as directed. Then turn right onto NY-9G North/Parker Avenue. Continue for 20 miles until you see the sign for NY-199 E/NY-9G N. After 17 miles, you will come to a traffic circle. Take the second exit onto NY-23 West. Along the way, you will cross over the famous Rip Van Winkle Bridge, linking the Village of Catskill with the City of Hudson. On the Catskill side is the Thomas Cole Historic Site, and on the Hudson side is Frederic Church’s Olana Historic Site. Both are worth a visit and are connected by the 2-mile pedestrian Hudson River Skywalk.
Stay on NY-23 West for 3 miles until you come to Jefferson Heights exit toward Leeds. Then turn right onto Main Street. This will take you to I-87 N, the New York State Thruway. Take this until Exit 23 for I-787 N toward Troy. Use the right two lanes to take exit 5 to merge onto I-90 W toward Buffalo. Take exit 5 for Everett Road. Use one of the two left lanes to turn left onto Everett Road Ext. Turn right onto Central Avenue. 799 Central Avenue will be on your right.
If you are a real foodie, then you are in for a treat. On your way, just north of Poughkeepsie, is the campus of the Culinary Institute of America (“CIA”). Set on a beautiful cliff overlooking the Hudson, the CIA is one of the pre-eminent culinary schools in the world, having trained many of the most famous chefs. The CIA operates four student-run restaurants. American Bounty Restaurant is a fine dining establishment with foods inspired by the Americas. Ristorante Caterina de’ Medici is a delightful Italian restaurant set in a gorgeous Tuscan villa. If you love modern French cuisine, then you are going to go wild for The Bocuse Restaurant. The fourth is the Apple Pie Bakery Café. Run by students of the pastry school, the Apple Pie features delicious savory bistro fare and yummy pastries. The macarons and financier cakes are so good, they can give the finest patisseries in Montmartre a run for their money.
