While the legendary F-150 is the perfect pick for a full-size model, the Ranger is ideal when you want something a bit smaller.
Ford gives you several engines to choose from with the 2026 Ranger, so you can get the level of performance that is right for you. You also have your choice of either rear-wheel drive (RWD) or four-wheel drive (4×4), so you can get the kind of driving experience that you prefer. Four trim levels give you the freedom to choose what you want without too many options.

Powerful Engines to Choose From
One thing we love when looking at trucks is having a number of different engines to choose from. This makes it easier to get the kind of power and performance you want in your pickup. Ford offers three different engines for the 2026 Ranger, which gives you the freedom to get the level of performance you are looking for without drowning you in too many options.
The standard powertrain is a 2.3L EcoBoost turbocharged I-4 engine that provides 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. This is an excellent place to start, and it is designed to ensure you have a great time as you drive each day. You can pair this with RWD or 4×4, and every Ranger, no matter which engine you choose, comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission for a smooth drive.
If you want enhanced performance, then there is a 2.7L EcoBoost turbocharged V6 engine that delivers 315 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. This is our favorite pick and the one we often suggest for our customers due to how much it improves the drive. There is also a 3.0L EcoBoost V6 engine available with 405 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque if you are interested in the Raptor model.

All of the power under the hood of the 2026 Ranger is about more than just enhancing your time on the road; it can also help you get some real work done. In particular, we like the FX4 Off-Road Package for an accessible way to get a rugged and adventurous pickup. You can add this package to any of the Ranger’s trims (other than the Raptor) along with 4×4. This package gives you off-road-tuned shocks and a rear locking differential, delivering impressive traction and comfort even in rough conditions.
You get a distinct Off-Road Screen on the center display that shows information such as your truck’s pitch, roll, and other data important in difficult terrain. This can seem like a pretty minor upgrade, but if you like to take on challenging trails, then the data provided on this screen is absolutely essential. It can make all the difference when things get tricky.
The FX4 Off-Road Package also adds Trail Control, which you can think of as cruise control for maneuvering at low speeds out on the trail. Activate this system, and it will handle acceleration and braking to maintain a set speed so you can focus on steering and navigating a rough stretch of trail. All of this comes together to create a truck that is ready for anything.

To go along with everything else the Ranger has to offer, Ford provides a wide range of standard and available features throughout this truck. Inside the 2026 Ranger, you will find some great standard and available features. Ford delivers innovative technology these days, and even the starting XL trim comes with a 10-inch center display that looks fantastic, along with an eight-inch cluster screen. You also get advanced safety features like Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, and much more.
Stepping up to the Lariat trim gets you a number of great upgrades that enhance functionality and comfort. The Ranger Lariat comes with a pair of gorgeous 12-inch screens for the infotainment system and instrument cluster, along with advanced safety tech like a Blind Spot Information System. Dual-zone automatic temperature control is provided, along with a 10-way power driver’s seat. You also get a 10-speaker B&O sound system in the Lariat trim, with available options like a wireless charging pad to make your life even easier.
With standard cruise control, plus options for a leather-wrapped steering wheel and ActiveX-trimmed seating for added comfort, everything about the Ranger has been designed to ensure you enjoy your time behind the wheel each day.
Terrific Exterior Features
To go along with all of the great standard and available features inside the 2026 Ranger, Ford also offers plenty of functional details outside. Looking at the base XL trim, you get 17-inch wheels that look great, with a body-color front fascia and black rear bumper. A power-locking tailgate is standard, along with Autolamp headlamps and much more.
If you go with the Lariat, then you get a number of upgraded features, such as 18-inch machined-aluminum wheels with Dark Pockets for bold styling. The Lariat comes with LED fog lamps for improved illumination in bad weather, plus a chrome center grille bar with black surround and a gray front fascia. Available options include running boards and an integrated box side step.
You can also choose available Zone Lighting that illuminates the perimeter of the Ranger, as well as inside its bed. Perhaps our favorite option is the Pro Power Onboard system with 400W of power directly accessible through outlets in the cab and bed of the Ranger. This is perfect for using a wide range of equipment and devices anywhere you go with your pickup.
