The Ford Ranger has long been a mainstay in the Ford truck lineup, first entering the scene in 1983. The Ranger was a small truck, but its versatility could give the bigger trucks a run for their money. Over the years, the design of the Ranger has shifted with customer needs, continuing to be an icon of dependability. Now it has been completely redesigned for 2024, with a focus on size, safety, and power. The redesign also includes a new Ranger Raptor model that takes you off-road with 33-inch tires and a twin-turbo V6 engine producing 405 hp.

Whichever 2024 Ford Ranger model you choose from at our Amsterdam Ford dealership, you’ll surely enjoy all the additions the Ford team has included. From the front bumper to the tailgate, Ford focused on ensuring the perfect blend of responsive handling, comfort, and capability for your driving satisfaction. Visit DePaula Ford today to see what the new Ford Ranger can do for you.

How Much Room Is in the 2024 Ford Ranger?

As more and more of us use our trucks on a daily basis, having enough space for you and your passengers is key. With the standard SuperCrew cab, you will enjoy a seating capacity of five, with 41 inches of headroom in the front and 39.8 inches in the back. When it’s just you and a front-row passenger, you can slide the seats all the way back for up to 43.7 inches of legroom, while second-row passengers can enjoy up to 34.6 inches of legroom, depending on the position of the front seats. Behind the cab is a standard five-foot bed with a capacity of 43.5 cu.ft. to help you make full use of the 2024 Ranger’s max payload rating of 1,805 lbs.

What Is Under the Hood?

The 2024 Ford Ranger will give you all the power you need with a standard 2.3L EcoBoost engine with Auto Start-Stop Technology. This is the proven engine from the 2023 Ranger and produces 270 hp. However, if you want more performance, there is an available 2.7L EcoBoost engine with 315 hp. For the 2024 Raptor Ranger, you get a 3.0L EcoBoost Engine with 405 hp and Auto Start-Stop Technology.

The Auto Start-Stop Technology from Ford is a handy feature that is designed to increase fuel efficiency. The innovative system turns off the engine when the Ranger comes to a full stop and turns it back on automatically when you release the brake pedal. The main advantage of Ford’s Auto Start-Stop Technology is that it saves gas. By getting rid of idle time, the system saves energy and lowers fuel use.

The exact amount of fuel saved depends on how you drive and how often you stop. In addition to using less gas, Auto Start-Stop technology also helps cut down on pollution, improving air quality and decreasing your carbon footprint. This technology is particularly useful if you find yourself stuck in traffic on your way into Albany or just driving around Montgomery County.

Towing With the 2024 Ford Ranger

If you plan to haul a trailer or camper, you’ll have plenty of options with the Ranger’s max towing capacity of 7,500 lbs. The 2024 Ford Ranger has an available Trailer Tow Package for the XL, XLT, and Lariat trims. This package includes a 4-pin/7-pin wiring harness and a Class IV Trailer Hitch Receiver. Additionally, an Advanced Tow Package exists for the XLT and Lariat trims, which increases your capabilities with a Trailer Brake Controller and Pro Trailer Backup Assist. But wait––that’s not all. You can also opt for the Advanced Towing Package Plus Technology Package, which adds the following features:

  • Reverse Park Aid with Trailer Guidance
  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering Stop and Go
  • Front Parking Sensors
  • 360-Degree Camera
  • Enhanced Active Park Assist
  • Complimentary Connected Build-In Navigation for three years

When choosing the Ranger Raptor, both the Advanced Towing Package and the Trailer Tow Package are included as standard equipment. However, it’s important to note that while the max towing capacity for the 2024 Ford Ranger is 7,500 lbs, it drops to 5,510 lbs for the Raptor version. Both options allow you to enjoy the great outdoors, whether off-roading near Shaker Mountain or camping at Great Sacandaga Lake.

2024 Ford Ranger Driver-Assist Features

In addition to being bigger and stronger, the 2024 Ford Ranger also keeps you safer with technology that helps you navigate the road more efficiently. With Ford’s Co-Pilot360 suite of driver-assist technologies, you get the support you need to keep you and your passengers safe. Some of the features included with Co-Pilot360 are detailed below.

Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking

This system monitors the path in front of you and alerts you of potential collisions. You’ll hear a warning and get an alert on your dash, allowing you to correct the situation. If you are not able to react in time, the system will apply emergency braking to help you prevent the crash.

Rear View Camera

The Rear View Camera gives you a view of what is behind your vehicle, allowing you to reverse safely. There is also assistance when hauling a trailer with the available Trailer Reverse Guidance. Pro Trailer Backup Assist is another unique feature that makes reversing with a trailer a breeze.

Auto High-Beam Headlamps

With this driver-assist feature, you get the support of your high beams when you need it. The system assesses the shadow and light in front of you and automatically turns on the high beams as needed. This is particularly helpful when traveling in new areas as you can focus on the road and not worry about turning the high beams on and off.

Blind Spot Warning with Cross Traffic Alert

By using rear-facing radar, this system can detect when there is a vehicle in your blind spot, allowing you to navigate more effectively when switching lanes. This same system lets you know a vehicle is approaching from the sides when you are reversing. If something is in your path, you will hear an audible alert and see a visual warning on your message center display or your side mirrors.

Lane-Keeping System

This system helps you stay with the flow of traffic and remain safe. If you start to sway too far one way, it will gently nudge your steering wheel and sound an alert, allowing you to correct your course. If the system is activated too many times in one driving session, it may also suggest a driving break to give you a chance to rest.

Depending on the trim, Ford offers additional driver-assist features for the Ranger, such as Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Lane Centering, Evasive Steering Assist, Post-Collision Braking, and more. For the 2024 Ford Ranger, you can also gain driving assistance with the available Active Parking Assistance feature.
