Breakdown of the 2021 Ford Bronco Trim Levels

If there ever was a reason to search for a “Ford dealership near me,” it’s the 2021 Ford Bronco. The Bronco returns for the 2021 model year, and it’s badder than ever. With serious off-road equipment and the rugged good looks of past generations, the Ford Bronco looks to be here to stay. After years of anticipation, the Bronco has exceeded expectations. Even more off-road capable than its predecessors, the Bronco is also offered for the first time as a 4-door model as well as a 2-door model.

And while we are sure you have heard lots of hype about the Bronco, we thought it would be good to go over the trim levels and see what’s actually available on the Bronco. The Bronco features seven unique trim levels, which Ford says are meant to align with the adventure interests of each customer. So, the question is, which trim level is right for you?

Base

The base trim is actually called the Base model. This is not due to a lack of imagination on the part of Ford, but is purposefully named to suggest that it is the no-frills model for those who want to customize the Bronco for their very own rugged off-road adventure. The two-door model starts at $28,500, while the four-door model starts at $33,200. With this trim, you get lots of standard off-road equipment, such as 4×4 with part-time selectable engagement, a 7-speed manual transmission with a crawler gear, and a terrain management system with five G.O.A.T. (Goes Over Any Terrain) Modes. It will also come with 16-inch steel wheels with 255/70R16 tires.

On the base trim, the two-door model has a 35.4-degree approach angle, 21.1-degree breakover angle, and 29.8-degree departure angle. For the four-door model, the numbers are 35.5, 20.0, and 29.7 degrees, respectively. The standard engine for the 2021 Ford Bronco is a 2.3-liter turbocharged inline-4 with 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque.

Other equipment for this blank-slate trim includes easily removable doors and roof (the 2-door model comes with a modular hardtop, and you can only get the soft top on 4-door models), SYNC 4 with an 8-inch touch screen, carpeted flooring, and cloth seats. Of course, optional equipment for the base trim is robust: the 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine, 10-speed automatic transmission with Trail Control, advanced 4×4 with automatic on-demand engagement, and the Sasquatch Package.

Big Bend

The next trim level is for those looking for off-road capability as well as more comfort, tech, and convenience. With this model, you will find everything in the base model, plus a terrain management system with six G.O.A.T. modes, 17-inch carbonized gray-painted aluminum wheels, 32-inch P255/75R17 all-terrain tires, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shift knob, LED fog lamps, a carbonized gray grille, and privacy glass. Optional equipment includes everything available on the base trim, plus heated front seats and remote start, and the Mid Package.

The Mid Package is a large package of features, and some of the highlights include: two-door intelligent access with a lock and unlock functionality, a 110V/150W power outlet, ambient footwell lighting, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control, a Reverse Sensing System, and enhanced voice recognition. Ford Co-Pilot360 upgrades are also included in this package for enhanced safety.

Black Diamond

This trim adds heavy-duty off-road hardware and a marine-grade washout interior for next-level outdoor adventure. So, again, you’ll find everything included in the Big Bend model, as well as a heavy-duty modular front bumper, powder-coated steel rear bumper, rock rails, and heavy-duty bash plates, a terrain Management System with seven G.O.A.T. Modes, 17-inch black-painted steel wheels, 32-inch LT265/70R17 all-terrain tires, auxiliary switches in the overhead console, marine-grade vinyl-trimmed seats and rubberized washout flooring. Heavy-duty skid plates and a locking rear differential are also included with the Black Diamond model. For this trim and the next three trim levels, the pricing isn’t necessarily hierarchical. You choose the model that suits you best.

Outer Banks

The Outer Banks model is the sporty and luxurious trim. It’s for customers who prefer style and technology on-road and off. Here, you’ll find the Mid Package as standard, for example, plus everything included in the Big Bend model. You’ll also find a Terrain Management System with six G.O.A.T. Modes, 18-inch black-painted machined-face aluminum wheels, 32-inch P255/70R18 all-terrain tires, signature L.E.D. headlamps, and taillamps, body-color exterior door handles, mirror caps and fender flares, powder-coated tube steps, and cloth heated front row bucket seats. For the Outer Banks model, the larger, 12.0-inch SYNC-4 infotainment system and B&O sound system is available.

Wildtrak

If you are looking for a high-speed desert-runner, the Wildtrak is the model for you. An all-out desert runner, the Bronco Wildtrak comes with the Sasquatch Package, 35-inch tires, and seven G.O.A.T. Modes, including Baja. The Wildtrak includes everything in the Outer Banks trim, and adds the 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine with 10-speed automatic transmission, advanced 4×4 with automatic on-demand engagement, a modular Shadow Black-painted hardtop, Wildtrak hood graphic, carpeted flooring, and cloth heated front row bucket seats.

Badlands

This is the model built to compete with the Jeep Rubicon. It is designed for the ultimate in off-road capability and comes with its own unique heavy-duty suspension that includes a front stabilizer bar disconnect. It also comes with a Terrain Management System with seven G.O.A.T. Modes, including Rock Crawl and Baja, 17-inch Carbonized Gray-painted machined aluminum wheels, 33-inch LT285/70R17 all-terrain tires, a heavy-duty modular front bumper, powder-coated steel rear bumper, auxiliary switches on the overhead console, marine-grade vinyl-trimmed seats and rubberized washout flooring. There’s also position-sensitive Bilstein shocks and an electro-hydraulically shifted transfer case with a 4Auto mode. Inside, you can opt for leather seating, a B&O sound system, and a 360-degree camera, among other luxury and tech features in the High and Lux packages.

First Edition

This package brings Badlands mechanicals, Outer Banks interior appointments, and the rugged Wildtrak exterior features. Only 3,500 are slated to be built, so this is not something you will find on every dealer’s lot. But it’s still fun to take a look and see what’s included in this super Bronco. Everything in the Badlands model is included plus the Lux Package, Sasquatch Package, First Edition hood and body side graphics, Modular Shadow Black-painted hard top, a Safari bar, carpeted flooring, a unique interior, leather-trimmed seats with a heated front row, and a 10-way power driver’s seat. The First Edition comes in both 2- and 4-door body styles.
