As a Ford dealership, it’s quite easy to get into that mindset because Ford makes some of the most incredible trucks in the industry. At the top of the list is the Ford F-150. America’s favorite truck for more than 45 years, the F-150 is an absolute legend that delivers incredible power, robust capabilities, and remarkable features inside and out. Even if you look at the 2025 Ford F-150 vs 2025 Toyota Tundra to see how the competition stacks up, the F-150 still comes out on top. Let’s take a closer look at this amazing pickup, and you’ll see what we mean.

An Array of Powerful Engines

Gorgeous designs are great, and robust engineering is important, but none of those things matter if you have a truck with a mediocre powertrain. Fortunately, Ford understands this well, which is why six different engines are available for the 2025 F-150. This gives you an incredible selection to choose from. In comparison, the Toyota Tundra has just two engine options available.

The standard engine for the 2025 F-150 is a 2.7L EcoBoost turbocharged V6 beast that delivers 325 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque, which gives you a fantastic place to start. If you’re looking for something more powerful, a 5.0L V8 engine is available that provides 400 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque, a fine upgrade from the starting point. From there, you can choose a 3.5L EcoBoost turbocharged V6 that also delivers 400 hp along with a remarkable 500 lb-ft of torque. With these three options, you have incredible freedom to get the power you want without missing out on anything.

For big performance while taking care of business each day, a hybrid version of this 3.5L turbocharged V6 is available, which boosts performance to 430 hp and 570 lb-ft of torque. This is an incredible choice and the engine we suggest for our customers looking to get the most from their truck. If you go with the off-road-focused Raptor model, then you get a High Output version of the 3.5L V6 engine, which delivers 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. Finally, the exclusive Raptor R model comes with a 5.2L High Output supercharged V8 engine that roars to life with 720 hp and 640 lb-ft of torque, providing a driving experience far beyond anything else you will find on or off the road. All of the F-150’s engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Toyota offers just two options for the engine of the 2025 Tundra, which gives their shoppers much less to play with. Fortunately for Toyota fans, they’re both pretty impressive, starting with a 358-hp 3.4L turbocharged V6 engine. The only other option is a hybrid version of this same engine (so in a way, there’s only one engine available), increasing horsepower to 437. That’s certainly fun to drive, even if we wish for more flexibility. We’d never say these engines are bad, but we wish Toyota trusted its customers to embrace the freedom of many options while looking for something perfect for them.

Incredible Payload and Towing Capabilities

Big horsepower and torque numbers are great and can make driving a truck feel incredibly rewarding each day. For many of us, however, what’s even more important is the kind of work those numbers translate to, which is to say, payload and towing. This is something Ford understands very well, and they engineer their trucks to take full advantage of the power from their engines, delivering an incredible experience. Toyota’s engineers know their stuff, too, but they can’t keep up with the legendary capabilities of the Ford F-150.

The 2025 Toyota Tundra gets up to 1,940 lbs of maximum payload when properly equipped and up to 12,000 lbs of max towing. Those are both good numbers, but they are just not good enough. When properly equipped, the 2025 Ford F-150 can handle up to 2,440 lbs of payload along with 13,500 lbs of maximum towing capability. Those are both significant differences. That’s more than 25% greater payload rating and more than 12% additional towing potential. We sometimes see companies brag about 25 lbs of increased ability, but here we see big numbers that can actually make a difference when it comes to how much your truck can handle.

Amazing Off-Road Potential

A great truck isn’t just about getting work done. It should also help you enjoy your free time, too. If you like heading outdoors and hitting off-road trails, then the F-150 is perfect for you. You have several great options for going off-road with the 2025 F-150, including the Tremor model with its 33-inch all-terrain tires, increased ride height for improved angles, and an available Torsen differential for the front axle. Taking things even further, the Raptor model features the High Output engine we looked at earlier, aggressive four-wheel drive with a Hi-Lock transfer case, heavy-duty skid plates, and much more. The Toyota Tundra has some good off-road options with its available TRD Off-Road package, though the high-end TRD Pro is the most worthy model for hitting the trail with its all-terrain tires and off-road suspension. We just wish it started at a more accessible price like the F-150 Tremor.

Stunning Interior Features

Since most of your time with your vehicle is spent with you inside it, the cabin is one of the most important things to consider in your next truck. The 2025 F-150 features a beautifully designed interior, including stunning standard features. Looking at the basic F-150 XL model, you get comfortable cloth seating, a massive 12-inch SYNC 4 infotainment display, and a second 12-inch Digital Productivity Screen to enhance your time on the road each day. Going up to the Platinum trim, we find enhancements like rain-sensing windshield wipers, ambient interior lighting, a B&O Unleashed sound system, and beautiful leather seating. The starting Toyota Tundra SR model has some nice features, but the standard 4.2-inch digital gauge cluster screen and eight-inch infotainment display leave much to be desired.

Bold Features to Get the Job Done

Just as impressive as what you find inside the F-150 are the kinds of tech features throughout that enhance your experience with your truck. For example, the available Pro Power Onboard system provides up to 7.2kW of power and outlets in numerous locations to let you power external devices and equipment using your truck. A marvel in the industry, the available Pro Access Tailgate folds down and features an integrated swing gate that lets you easily access items in the bed even if you have a trailer hooked up to your truck. With the available BlueCruise hands-free driving system, you can make every trip easier and less demanding. You won’t find these features on the Toyota Tundra.
