Two Powerful Ford Engines

The Bronco Sport is offered with two distinct engines, depending on the trim chosen. The majority of the 2026 lineup is powered by a 1.5L EcoBoost engine that provides 180 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of torque. The top-of-the-line Badlands trim gives drivers more in the form of a 2.0L EcoBoost engine that supplies an even more exciting 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque.

Four-wheel drive is standard in the 2026 Bronco Sport, and drivers have five standard Goes Over Any Type of Terrain (GOAT) drive modes to help them channel this added stability and control, including Slippery and Off-Road modes. But you don’t have to choose the Badlands to get the best off-roading gear Ford has to offer. The Bronco Sport Outer Banks trim, when equipped with the available Sasquatch Package, gains the same HOSS 2.0 suspension and twin-clutch rear drive unit, along with a full collection of skid plates and some very cool technology.

Ford Trail Control controls acceleration and braking when attempting tricky maneuvers at low speeds. Trail One-Pedal Driving allows you to adjust your speed without using the brake pedal by braking when you lift your foot off the accelerator.

Chevy’s Limited Off-Road Credentials

While all 2026 Trailblazer models are offered with the option for all-wheel drive, only the range-topping ACTIV trim is touted as having off-road capability. This model includes what’s nonspecifically touted as “off-road suspension,” along with 17-inch wheels, a skid plate, and roof-mounted side rails. But off-roading isn’t the type of adventure the Chevy Trailblazer prefers, as it doesn’t even come with all-terrain tires.

If your idea of adventure requires a trailer and some extra gear, again, the Bronco Sport is here to help. The more powerful Badlands engine can tow up to 2,700 lbs, while the rest of the lineup pulls up to 2,200 lbs. All 2026 Chevy Trailblazer models max out at a mere 1,000 pounds, which is barely enough to tow a single dirtbike.

Features like flip-up rear glass and cargo tie-down carabiner hooks may sound like a bit much at first, but anyone who has ever wanted to “just grab something” from the back or cringed while their groceries roll around in the cargo hold can understand the practicality behind these features.

Ford’s SYNC 4 infotainment system is accessed via a standard 13.2-inch center touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity are also standard, along with Alexa Built-In. A six-speaker audio system is standard, and a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen system with a subwoofer can be optioned in.

The Bronco Sport is truly a daily driver with a sense of adventure. Standard driver assistance technology includes blind spot assistance and rear cross traffic braking. The 65.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats can be a great way to get your tent, science project, or party supplies from one location to another.

A Bare-Bones SUV From Chevy

In comparison, the 2026 Trailblazer falls short. A four-speaker audio system is standard, the top audio system has only seven speakers, and the infotainment screen measures just 11 inches. The Chevy Safety Assist suite of driver-assistance technology is standard on all trims, but it does not include blind-spot warning—you have to pay more for that critical feature. Adaptive cruise control is also only available as an option, which is quite surprising for a modern SUV.
