The Bronco’s engines are going to propel you forward a lot faster than the Gladiator’s will. For many drivers, that immediately makes the Bronco the superior option. The Bronco’s 2.3L EcoBoost engine can go from 0-to-60 mph in 7.1 seconds. You can easily get there faster if you opt for the V6 engine, which blasts off from standstill to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds. If you do decide to consider the Raptor, it’ll do it in 5.6 seconds.

The Gladiator will be a bit more sluggish than the Bronco. Its naturally aspirated V6 can only do 7.2 seconds from 0-to-60 mph, and there’s no available upgrade to the Gladiator’s engine. That means you’re stuck on the acceleration front. For many customers, this alone is a dealbreaker, which is why they rank the Bronco as superior.

The Bronco comes with a ten-speed automatic transmission, while the Gladiator only offers eight speeds. We would never say the eight-speed is bad. In fact, it can excel in some areas. However, for many of our customers, the ten-speed wins out and easily so.

The ten-speed automatic transmission is simply another reason we can reliably characterize the Bronco experience as a much smoother drive than the Gladiator’s.

The Bronco also offers something the Gladiator does not: the ability to shift your own gears. The seven-speed manual transmission (available only with the 2.3L I-4) may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but some drivers prefer the extra control that only a manual transmission offers, especially off-road. While Jeep does offer a six-speed manual transmission in the Wrangler, only the eight-speed automatic is available in the Gladiator.

The Bronco Has a Closer Eye on Your Safety

Jeeps are known for many things, but a massive amount of standard safety features isn’t one of them. To get safety features of note, you’re going to have to pay for them on the Jeep Gladiator, which definitely makes the pickup truck a less-than-ideal purchase for family drivers and even daily commuters looking to reduce morning worries.
