Few things are as special as a Ford F-150 pickup that is a rugged, dependable, and versatile truck that you can use for work, family and play. To make things even more interesting, the engineers on Ford’s design team have been producing special edition Ford F-150 trucks with unique features and specialized looks to stand out in the crowd. As the name implies, these special edition trucks are not produced in mass quantities, so probably the best way is to look for them is by searching through used Ford trucks. DePaula Ford in Albany, NY, has a vast inventory of special edition Ford F-150 trucks, making us your best bet if you are in the market for something completely different. We carry the full line of new, used, and Certified Pre-Owned Ford cars, trucks, vans, and SUVs, including special edition Ford F-150 trucks. In the following, we are going to look at the top ten Special Edition F-150 trucks from 2010-2020 so you know what to keep your eye out for.

#10: 2014 Ford F-150 Tremor

“Tremor” is another word for an earthquake, and this special edition Ford F-150 really rocked our world. The Tremor came in a two-door, one row Regular Cab with a short bed with either rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. However, that is not what made the Tremor special. The Tremor featured a unique L-shaped accent stripe on its side and was one of the lightest F-150 trucks built by Ford. It was paired with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost turbo engine that made this not just light, but fast. How fast? How about 0-60 mph in 6 seconds and able to complete the quarter-mile in only 12.9 seconds. Even with this speed, the Tremor was rated to be able to tow up to 8,000 pounds of trailer. Not bad for a speedy little truck that left sport coupe drivers trembling behind their wheels.

#9: 2019-20 Ford F-150 XLT Sport

The folks at Ford have carried on the special edition tradition today, and one of their finest offerings is the XLT Sport. In addition to the standard 2020 Ford F-150 XLT trim package, the XLT Sport adds 18-inch spoke machined aluminum wheels, special body-color, a chrome exhaust tip, a SPORT box-side decal, and magnetic exterior accents, to give the truck a sporty appearance. Interior and seat finishes complete the package, giving you a unique and cohesive vehicle that will be the envy of all of your friends.

#8: 2020 Ford F-150 STX Sport Appearance Special Edition

The 2020 Ford F-150 STX is one of the few current special editions that is not paired with a standard trim level. Instead, this takes a current Ford F-150 and adds 20-inch aluminum wheels and a chrome exhaust extension to improve the performance of the truck. If this doesn’t let you know that the STX Sport is special, the unique SPORT body-side decal and accent stripe should give you fair warning that you are in the presence of a truck that is truly unique.

#7: 2019-20 Ford F-150 XLT Special Edition

Just like the XLT Sport, the Ford F-150 XLT Special Edition is built off of an XLT trim level. However, Ford has added a plethora of extra items to make this one truly unique. These include 20-inch premium Dark Tarnished-painted aluminum wheels, accent-color angular step bars, body-color grille surround and nostrils with black mesh insert, fender and tailgate badging with red accent, halogen headlights with dark housing, a single-tip exhaust, and SPORT box-side decal. The interior of the XLT Special Edition also has some one-of-a-kind features. These include oil-rubbed bronze appliques on the instrument panel and doors, contrast red stitching on the steering wheel and shifter, and Special Edition cloth seating with red contrast stitching and embroidered SPORT logos. This one doesn’t just look special; it truly is unique.

#6: 2020 Ford F-150 Lariat Black

You’ll be yelling, “Dude, where’s my truck?!” if you have a Ford F-150 Lariat Black and have put it in a crowded parking lot in a pitch-black night. That is because Ford has taken a Ford F-150 Lariat trim, painted it dark black, and added 20-inch Dark Tarnish wheels, black running boards, black grille mesh inserts. Making sure you will have a tough time finding this truck in the dark is the addition of the iconic Ford oval logo in black with smoked-satin chrome accents. Imagine an F-150 back in black, and you get the idea.

#5: 2019-20 Ford F-150 King Ranch Monochromatic

Up north here in the Capital District, we get our fair share of snow. And the only thing whiter than winter for us is the Ford F-150 King Ranch Monochromatic. That’s right, or should I say white? The King Ranch itself started as a special edition itself back in 2001, based on a partnership with the 825,000-acre King Ranch in south Texas, before becoming a regular trim level. In addition to the unique features and styling of a Ford F-150 King Ranch, the Monochromatic adds 20-inch chrome PVD aluminum wheels, bright beltline moldings, chrome exterior door handles with body-color bezels, chrome exterior mirror caps, a tailgate applique, body-color wheel lip moldings, and monochromatic paint. Ford will also include a pair of chrome front two hooks if you opt for the 4X4.

#4: 2019-20 Ford F-150 Lariat Special Edition

If you want to rope in a really different truck, then you’d best lasso a Ford F-150 Lariat Special Edition. This truck features 20-inch unique premium Dark Tarnished painted aluminum wheels, headlamps with dark housings, accent-color angular step bars, body-color front, and rear bumpers, body-color grille surround and nostrils with Dark Foundry mesh inserts, a unique single-tip exhaust, a SPORT box-side decal, F-150 fender and tailgate badging with red accent, and unique body-side and hood decals. The folks at Ford didn’t ignore the inside of this truck either. There are oil-rubbed bronze appliques on the instrument panel and doors, Special Edition leather-trimmed seats with red accent underlay, and contrast red stitching on the instrument panel, steering wheel, shift knob, and door trim panels. The design team at Ford has tied up one amazingly distinctive truck with the F-150 Lariat Special Edition.

#3: Ford F-150 Raptor

A blue 2020 Ford F-150 Raptor is driving in a desert.

This special edition started as part of Ford’s special vehicle team (SVT), which built and marketed this particular off-road truck as the SVT Raptor from 2010 to 2014. Ford returned it to the F-150 lineup as the Ford F-150 Raptor starting in 2017. Off-road enthusiasts have been thankful ever since. The original SVT Raptors featured a 5.4-liter V8 capable of producing up to 310 horsepower. This was eventually replaced by the optional 411 horsepower 6.2-liter V8. Both engines were paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Beginning with its rebirth in 2017, the Raptor now features a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 capable of producing 450 horsepower and 510 pounds to feet of torque. This is more fuel-efficient than the engine on the SVT Raptor and is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. All Raptors come in either SuperCab or SuperCrew configuration, and feature model-exclusive suspension with long-travel springs and shocks to improve off-road capability and performance. Beginning in 2019, Ford added FOX Live Valve Shocks to the Raptor, further enhancing its abilities. If you love off-roading, then this special edition Raptor is the one for you.

#2: 2010-11 Ford F-150 Harley Davidson Edition

Few things are as iconic in America as Ford trucks and Harley Davidson motorcycles. That is why it made perfect sense for the two to pair up in 2000 and begin producing a truck that served the wants and needs of motorcycle enthusiasts. Each Harley Davidson Edition came in SuperCrew configuration with either a black or dark grey paint job, colors that are immediately identifiable with the world’s most famous motorcycle company. To make clear the allegiance of the driver, Ford added Harley Davidson badges on the exterior and even one on the windshield. Completing this package was a unique grille and sports body exterior styling. There have been rumors circulating that Ford may bring back this special edition with the next model year. Motorcycle truck enthusiasts should stay tuned!

#1: 2013-14 Ford F-150 Tonka

Let’s face it: most of us developed our enthusiasm for trucks when we were little boys and girls, playing with those amazing Tonka truck replicas. Now imagine adding a full-size Tonka truck, and being able to get behind the wheel and take it for a drive. Tonka enthusiasts had to imagine no more when Tuscany Motor Company obtained a license from Hasbro and began a limited run of these F-150 Tonka trucks. How limited? Try only 500 models. While the truck itself is a standard F-150 for the model year, what makes this special is the styling. The truck features 20-inch Tonka alloy wheels, BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires, Dual Tone performance exhaust, Pro-Comp 6-inch suspension lift, and leather seats with Tonka logos. Completing the package is a unique exterior finish of Tonka’s signature bright yellow paint. This truck is one toy for big boys and girls. And yes, the battery is included!
