There’s no sugar coating it, purchasing a new vehicle is a momentous occasion, and because of this, there’s no room for error. Once you’ve decided that it is time to buy a new car, the next step is picking which one. This decision can often begin with choosing a manufacturer that you know, love, and trust. And one manufacturer has continuously raised the bar and has always provided drivers with vehicles that aren’t only reliable, but powerful too: Ford. Each year, Ford builds upon its popular lineups and provides revisions that aim to improve the existing formulas on an annual basis.

Chances are, you’re aware of the top-dog manufacturers and have fully acknowledged that your choices are plentiful, to say the least. This year we’ve seen a few of our favorite Ford vehicles getting their annual refresh, including the likes of sedans, SUVs, trucks, etc. Among these refreshes is the 2020 Ford Mustang, the newest rendition of the beloved classic, which originally started production back in 1964. The Ford Mustang is a very popular vehicle amongst Ford’s offerings, and this year Ford has given fans of the Mustang plenty to look forward to.

Aspiring shoppers will be drawn to the Mustang for a large number of reasons, namely a strong emphasis on performance that rivals many of its biggest competitors. Looking at the 2020 Ford Mustang, there are eleven trims to choose from, with prices ranging from the base EcoBoost Fastback which starts at an MSRP of $26,670, to the Shelby GT350R which starts at $73,435. Possibly more important, though, the Ford Mustang has three engines, including a 2.3L 4-cylinder, a 5.0L V8, and a 5.2L V8, which all help to make this performance vehicle one of the most powerful on the road. There is so much about this vehicle that makes it special, so today, we at DePaula Ford in Albany, NY, are here to tell you a bit more about it.

All About the High-Performance Engines

One thing the Mustang has always done very well is giving you options on how you’d like to achieve your desired level of performance, and this model year is no different. There are three available engines and four levels of power that you can get equipped inside of your Mustang. The first engine to be found inside each of the four EcoBoost trims is a turbocharged 2.3L 4-cylinder. This engine produces 310 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. This engine also features Ford’s twin independent variable cam timing (Ti-VCT), which generally increases performance. This is a lot of power for a base model, but there is so much more being offered.

Let’s say you purchase one of the three GT trims, which are the GT Fastback, the GT Premium Convertible, and the GT Premium Fastback; then, you’ll be getting an upgraded 5.0L V8 engine. This engine produces an ample 460 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque, and fans of manual transmissions will be content with the 6-speed manual that comes standard, but for those looking for a more efficient solution, than opting for the 10-speed automatic transmission from SelectShift provides just that. The 6-speed manual, however, includes rev-matching, which ultimately reduces wear and tear on your transmission and makes shifting gears a smoother experience overall. It’s worth noting that this engine is standard and non-replaceable if you opt for the Bullitt trim, which utilizes the same engine, but with a small uptick to performance, you will get 480 hp.

Those who are well familiar with the Mustang are fully aware of the top-end models known as the Mustang Shelby. These trims are stellar in every single way from a sporty and luxurious design to their immense power. Purchasing the Shelby GT350 or the GT350R will net you the next of the four Mustang engines, which is a 5.2L V8 that produces a whopping 526 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque. This year, Ford is taking it one step further and with the newly introduced GT500, which houses the same 5.2L V8 as the other Shelby models, but this time around, it produces an incredible 760 hp and 625 lb-ft of torque. This performance is simply jaw-dropping, and if you want the very best experience for your Mustang, you can’t go wrong.

Interior & Entertainment

Of course, power is a given for the Mustang, but some may be wondering how the interior of the Mustang holds up. The Mustang’s interior certainly deserves praise for its design that’s not only modern but comfortable too. Every Mustang seats up to four passengers, and you may opt to replace your manually adjustable seats for power-adjustable seats with six-way controls. Depending on the trim you purchase, your seats will either be cloth or genuine leather with built-in ventilation and heating controls. Additionally, there is a copious amount of space in the trunk measuring in at 13.5 cu.ft. for the non-convertible models and 11.4 cu.ft for ones that are. This is plenty of space to fit a decent amount of cargo or groceries, for example.

Should you be looking for the very best entertainment and or connectivity features, you should undoubtedly aim their sights towards any of the Mustangs that offer the inclusion of Ford’s SYNC 3 infotainment center. This infotainment system grants your Mustang a host of modern amenities that have taken the industry by storm in recent years. For example, you’ll be controlling your media and viewing your built-in rearview camera through the included 8-inch screen with touch controls. This system also includes satellite radio, which is a great way to listen to music on your high-quality speaker system made up of nine crystal clear speakers located throughout the cabin of your Mustang. A dual USB port setup is present with the SYNC 3 infotainment center so you can charge or sync your devices with ease.

Speaking of syncing devices, Ford’s SYNC 3 infotainment center also offers drivers the inclusion of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Both of these pieces of software have become very popular since their introductions over five years ago, and many manufacturers, such as Ford, have noticed that. CarPlay and Auto are built to improve your vehicle’s connectivity features significantly, and as long as you have an iPhone or compatible Android device, setup is a breeze. With CarPlay and Auto, you can make hands-free phone calls and text messages, interact with your personal AI assistant such as Siri, navigate with maps, and even peruse your favorite playlists. The Mustang has every feature you could possibly want or need in a vehicle. Mixed with its excellent performance, this makes it one of the best cars on the market.
