Well, there are a plethora of different options out there, but if you’re looking for something sporty, roomy, reliable, and range-worthy, you need a specific kind of EV that includes a lot of different features that fit your standards within the budget that you’re working with.

When it comes to newer EV models, Nissan has re-entered the space with the replacement for the Leaf in the form of the ARIYA, and Ford has managed to put out a new model with new features for the Mach-E. Both the EVs are designed to be multi-functional daily drivers, but which one do you go with between the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E vs 2024 Nissan ARIYA? Well, believe it or not, there are a few notable features that make the 2024 Mustang Mach-E a better daily driver than the 2024 Nissan ARIYA. Let’s take a closer look.

#1. The Mustang Mach-E Has More Cargo Capacity Than the ARIYA

Daily drivers aren’t just about fuel economy (or battery range) and comfort levels; there is also the importance of cargo capacity. This is because many people who engage in daily driving also want something that can carry school books, backpacks, work equipment, computer equipment, groceries, or delivery items. This is something that EVs have to manage very tactically because the battery packs can take up a lot of room, so for compact crossover EVs, you have to manage form versus capacity. The ARIYA has a total of 22.8 cu.ft. of space behind the second row. You get a total of 23% additional cargo volume with the Mustang Mach-E behind the second row, even though both vehicles offer seating for five people across two rows. You get the same amount of cargo capacity between both, with the second rows folded down, offering up to 59.7 cu.ft. of cargo space. However, if you’re driving the kids to school or picking them up from extracurricular activities every day, you won’t be able to fold the seats for the extra space but instead will need to make full use of the cargo storage area in the back, which is where the Mustang Mach-E shines.

#2. The ARIYA Lacks a Frunk, Unlike the Mustang Mach-E

On the subject of capacity, while the battery packs can take up a lot of space, some crossover EVs offer additional cargo storage with the frunk, also known as a front trunk. The ability to keep extra items not only in the back of the vehicle, but being able to keep items in the front of the vehicle as well when the frunk is available is a huge asset. And that’s where you fall short with the ARIYA, as you don’t get the frunk with the vehicle.

Due to Nissan wanting to provide more interior passenger volume, they had to sacrifice a frunk for the ARIYA. The Mustang Mach-E, however, does provide you with a frunk, and you get an additional 4.7 cu.ft. of space to store small items. This improves the viability of the Mach-E because if you want to keep something small, important, or fragile in the frunk, you can. Maybe you want to keep certain delicate items from moving around in the back? Put them in the frunk. Even if you don’t plan on using it all the time, having that option for storage is extremely useful.

#3. The Mach-E Has a Larger Infotainment Display Over the ARIYA

One important part of a great daily driver is the infotainment suite. You may not necessarily think about it like that, but the reality is that if you’re doing a lot of commuting as part of your daily driving routine, then having a worthwhile infotainment system available for listening to your favorite media or projecting your favorite playlists to the vehicle via your smartphone becomes an essential element. Both the 2024 Mustang Mach-E and 2024 Nissan ARIYA support great infotainment and sound systems, with the Mach-E having an available 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system and the ARIYA supporting a 10-speaker Bose sound system. However, it’s the touchscreen offerings that see the Mach-E provide you with a better in-cabin experience.

The Nissan ARIYA comes with a 12.3-inch HD touchscreen, while the Mach-E provides you with a slightly larger 15.5-inch HD touchscreen. However, if you aren’t interested in the high-performance options but rather the more commuter-focused models, yet you still want enough gusto to keep pace in the commuter lane, which offers better single-motor configurations for range and performance? Well, that honor would go to the Mach-E.

The ARIYA’s single-motor options include a 63 kWh motor that produces 214 hp at 221 lb-ft of torque and an extended range 87 kWh single-motor option that makes 238 hp at 221 lb-ft of torque. By comparison, the Mustang Mach-E’s standard 72 kWh single-motor option makes up to 266 hp at 317 lb-ft of torque, while the extended range 91 kWh single-motor option delivers 311 hp at 428 lb-ft of torque. Basically, the Mach-E offers some significant boosts in performance over the ARRIYA when it comes to the single-motor options, so even if you’re not looking at the high-performance variants when it comes to the more daily-driver-oriented options, you still get better performance out of the Mach-E.

The 2024 Nissan ARIYA offers a max single-motor range of 304 miles on a full charge. Comparatively, the 2024 Mustang Mach-E in a single-motor configuration manages up to 312 miles of total range on a full charge. For the Mustang Mach-E, you have eight additional miles to a full charge to utilize for travel compared to the ARIYA. What’s more is that not only do you get more range out of the Mach-E, but you get better performance, too.

For daily driving, having more range is definitely more important than performance, but having performance and range makes the vehicle even better. This is what makes the Mach-E such a worthwhile compact crossover EV because it provides you with more space, better performance, and overall better range for the casual driver. This makes the 2024 Mach-E a worthwhile pursuit for those considering shopping for one compared to a 2024 Nissan ARIYA.
