Ford’s Newest Truck Models: Which One’s for You?

Finding the right Latham Ford dealership is about more than just buying a good truck: it’s about choosing the dealership that offers the best long-term benefits. You can buy a new truck at any Ford dealership, and while you of course want a good deal up-front, much of your costs come later down the road. If you want your truck to last, choose a dealership with a Ford-Certified servicing team like us. Those genuine Ford parts make a difference in the long run. Whether you’re interested in a new Ranger, an F-Series, or even a Maverick, we’ve got the assets to keep you up and running. At DePaula Ford, we offer both the space and time you need to get your new Ford truck efficiently serviced.
Now that you’ve found the right dealership, it’s time to pick the ideal truck. Ford currently offers three main models: the Maverick, the Ranger, and the F-Series. The Maverick is Ford’s “micro truck,” while the Ranger is a midsize option, and the F-Series is available in 3 different sizes. We’ve got all the details you need to find your next new Ford truck.
The 2022 Ford Maverick
Compact trucks have been shelved for years now. In fact, until recently, a midsize truck was the smallest truck you could buy. The 2022 Ford Maverick is changing this, hitting the market with a 54.4-inch bed, two engine options, and seating for up to 5 people despite its smaller, easier-to-navigate size. There are 3 different available trim options, but even the lowest XL trim includes 4 standard Ford Co-Pilot360 safety features such as Pre-Collision Assist with Emergency Braking and a Rear View Camera.
Trucks are becoming more eco-friendly with time, and Ford is certainly keeping up with this trend. Interestingly enough, the Maverick’s standard engine is hybrid. This 2.5-liter engine allows for a combined average of 37 MPG (miles per gallon) and a 2,000-pound max tow capacity. If you still want the full gasoline engine, you can choose the 2.0-liter EcoBoost option, which has a combined average of 26 MPG and offers a 4,000-pound max tow rating. However, drivers who want this truck for its design and convenience rather than a high tow capacity will be better off sticking with the standard hybrid engine.
The mid-level XLT trim adds more to the package, thanks to its FLEXBED system, which allows for multiple cargo dividers and racks. It also includes a multi-position tailgate and six cargo tie-downs, allowing for a fully customizable truck bed. While the base and mid-level trims offer more than you’ll ever need, the high-level Lariat trim has everything you could ever want. This trim includes everything that the XL and mid-level XLT trim have, plus dual-zone temperature control, optional heated seating, an 8-way adjustable driver’s seat, and much more. No matter what trim you choose, you can rest assured that “compact” is not synonymous with “cramped.” In the 2022 Maverick, there’s plenty of door-pocket and rear underseat storage available, in addition to 54.4 inches of bed space.

The 2022 Ford Ranger
This model was once the smallest available Ford truck for several years until the Maverick arrived. The Ford Ranger dominates the midsize truck market as an average-sized truck option with good tow capability and off-road capability. Surprisingly, although the Ranger is a larger truck than the Maverick, it offers less bed space than its compact cousin. That said, the Ranger has more capability, making it a better option for laborers and off-road enthusiasts.
The Ranger includes three different trim options, just like the Maverick – the XL, the XLT, and the Lariat. But what makes the Ranger stand out is its available off-roading package known as “Tremor.” When you add this package to your Ranger, you can traverse uncommon grounds, thanks to modified suspension, an underbody skid plate, rear tow hooks, and much more. That’s only the start, as the Tremor package gets you up to 9.7 inches of ground clearance, 4-high and 4-low gear ratios, and front bash plates in addition to the undercarriage skid plate. While it’s not recommended that you intentionally bash into any rocks or trees, these Tremor Package protectors help prevent damage while you’re trailing.
That’s still not all the Ranger offers to off-roaders. You’ll also get Trail Control, which is essentially cruise control for off-roading. There are also several drive modes available. You can kick it into gear like you would with the Bronco and activate Mud Mode, Sand Mode, Rock Crawl Mode, and much more. When you’re looking for a little extra power, but you’re not planning on hauling a livestock trailer any time soon, the Ranger is a great option.
The 2022 Ford F-Series
The F-Series Ford truck is likely the truck you’ve heard about the most. The F-150 is one of the most popular trucks in North America, and the heavy-duty F-250 and F-350 have been keeping farmers in business since 1998. Technically, the F-Series goes up to the F-740, but those higher levels are more for commercial vehicles. The regular 2022 Ford F-150 is available in 8 different engine options if you include the off-roading Raptor and the all-electric Lightning. You can tow up to 14,000 pounds with a 2022 F-150 when you choose the 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine, but even the all-electric Lightning model can handle towing up to 10,000 pounds.
The F-150 includes many great features, including a built-in generator called Pro Power Onboard, best-in-class towing and payload ratings, an interior work surface, and much more. There are several available F-150 trims and packages as well, leaving room for both convenience and aesthetic customizations. This is a great model for families and everyday truck owners. However, if you want to take capability a step further, check out the 2022 Ford Raptor for the ultimate off-road adventure.
Ready for the maximum amount of power? Then you need the F-Series SuperDuty. You can choose from two different SuperDuty sizes: the 250, and the 350. A 2022 Ford F-250 model can tow up to 22,800 pounds, while the 350 can tow as much as 35,750 pounds. This isn’t the type of truck you need if you’re just cruising around town or towing a fishing boat. The SuperDuty is designed for heavy labor. Whether you’re hauling loaded livestock trailers, a houseboat, or large pieces of equipment, the 2022 Ford F-Series SuperDuty is for you.

Choosing the Right Truck
Now that you know all about Ford’s different truck options, how do you know which one’s best for you? It all depends on your lifestyle. The Maverick won’t get you far if you’re an off-roading enthusiast, but it’s great for casual adventures, and it’s certainly the most commuter-friendly truck available. The Ranger is the perfect size for off-roading, and with the available Tremor package, no one will be able to keep you off the trails. It’s also a bit more tow-capable than the Maverick is and can handle minor towing. When it’s time to get the job done, you’ll want to stick with the F-Series. While the F-150 is great for your average-sized tasks, the SuperDuty is what farmers and hardcore laborers will need.
