Here at DePaula Ford, we’ve got the best inventory full of new off-roading vehicles. From the Ford Explorer to the Ford F-150 and everything in-between, all of our available 2020 models are ready to rock and roll!
The 2020 Ford Escape
As its name suggests, the 2020 Ford Escape is a great choice for people who like to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Escaping into nature has never been easier with this newly refreshed compact crossover. With seating for five passengers, it’s great for singles, couples, small families, and even people with four-legged companions.
Although its primary focus is on pleasant city driving, you can take this petite SUV on adventures. You should opt for the SEL or Titanium trim level if you want something you can take to more rugged areas. This is because of the more powerful engine that sits under the hood. Instead of the standard turbocharged 1.5L 3-cylinder engine that only gets up to 181 hp and 190 lb-ft of torque, the SEL and Titanium models are both powered by a bigger turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that produces 250 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. Equipped with an 8-speed automatic and AWD, this is much more suitable for camping trips.
This vehicle also has 34 cubic feet of cargo room behind the second row of seating. That’s quite generous for this class. With plenty of room inside for all of your luggage and gear, you can secure extra items to the top of the vehicle via the roof rails. There is also a hands-free liftgate that makes it easy to load up the back without dropping anything.
2020 Ford Explorer
If you need more space and a stonier powertrain, take a peek at the 2020 Ford Explorer. This mid-size SUV has made quite a name for itself since it was introduced to the market back in 1991. Offering three rows of seating for up to seven passengers, you can bring the whole gang along for your next adventure.
While the mid-level XLT is capable of being an adventure model, many of its enhanced features are add-ons. If you want a version of the Explorer that comes fully prepared to hit the wild outdoors, you need to shift your focus to either the high-octane ST or the luxurious Platinum.
Rolling on 20-inch wheels with a sport-tuned suspension, the ST model is powered by a turbocharged 3.0L V6 engine that generates 400 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. With sporty front seats, a digital instrument, and advanced safety features like parallel/perpendicular parking and reverse automatic emergency braking; this vehicle is quite athletic. The reason we mention it as a great adventure model is because it comes with a Trailer Tow Package. This adds a frame-mounted hitch, trailer connectors, a cargo management system, and an engine cooling unit. It also pushes up the maximum towing capacity to 5,600 pounds.
As for the Platinum model, you will find the same engine grumbling under the hood, but it only gets up to 365 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. It also comes with a twin-panel moonroof to enjoy the views of the sky and a 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo system to listen to your favorite songs during the trip.
2020 Ford Expedition
For the massive Ford Expedition, you don’t have to get picky about the trim level. All versions of this giant SUV are capable of handling outdoor adventures. Powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.5L V6 engine, this vehicle puts out 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. The Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package is available on all trims, including the base model. It enables the vehicle to pull up to 9,300 pounds with features such as a heavy-duty radiator, Pro-Trailer Backup Assist, an integrated trailer brake controller, a 2-speed automatic 4WD, and 3.73 electronic slip differential. This means that you can pull almost anything.
Another available feature for all trims is the FX4 Off-Road Package. This adds off-road front and back shocks, skid plates, fuel tank underbody protection, running boards plated in chrome, all-terrain tires, front- and second-row floor liners, and a 360-degree camera system. With 18-inch aluminum wheels and unique FX4 badging, you will be ready to hit the outdoors whenever you want.
2020 Ford Ranger
If SUVs just aren’t your cup of tea, you can get a 2020 Ford Ranger. Available in SuperCab and SuperCrew body styles, this truck can be configured to hold four to five passengers. All Ranger models are equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission and a turbocharged 2.3L 4-cylinder engine that pushes out 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. Before you start thinking that isn’t strong enough, you should know that it can tow up to 7,500 pounds without breaking a sweat.
It also a bit similar to the Expedition in that it doesn’t matter which trim level you choose. They are all capable of going on fun adventures. However, there are a few packages that you can add to enhance the truck’s capabilities further. The XL STX Appearance Package adds tow hooks, fog lamps, and 17-inch aluminum wheels. The FX2 Package, includes off-loading tires, an electronic-locking rear differential, and a revised suspension for better handling over sought terrain. Models equipped with 4WD can also be fitted with the FX4 Package, which adds monotube shocks, a steel front bash plate, skid plates, a terrain-management system, trail control, and an interior cluster gauge that displays the pitch, roll, and steering angle.
2020 Ford F-150
Finally, the iconic Ford F-150 is another adventure-friendly vehicle in the lineup for 2020. Available in regular, SuperCab, and SuperCrew body styles to seat two to six passengers, each trim is capable of off-roading. However, there is one trim level that has been specifically designed for enhanced handling off-road. This model is known as the Raptor.
The F-150 Raptor is powered by a twin-turbo 3.5L V6 engine mated with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Together, they produce a staggering 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. This vehicle comes with class-exclusive FOX live valve monotube shocks for superior control over rough terrain. It also uses a cruise control system known as Trail Control. You can set your desired speed, and the system will take over acceleration and braking while traveling over rough terrain. This enables you to focus solely on steering. Equipped with 4WD and a terrain management system with six selectable drive modes, you can drive confidently no matter what conditions the roads are in. The drive modes you can select include Normal, Sport, Slippery, Tow/Haul, Deep Snow/Sand, and Baja/Rock Crawl.
