Here at DePaula Ford, we have a simple business philosophy: you deserve the best experience possible as you shop for a vehicle and drive away in something you love. The modern Ford lineup makes that easy since it gives you so many amazing vehicles to choose from, but we know that you still have a lot of other options out there. To fully appreciate everything Ford brings to the road, it often helps to look at its vehicles and compare them to the competition. Considering the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E vs 2024 Kia EV6, for example, reveals that while Kia has delivered something quite impressive, it still cannot beat what Ford offers.

For starters, you have to look at performance when it comes to a battery-electric vehicle (BEV), even with a couple of compact SUVs like these two. While many other brands have fallen short with similar models, the Kia EV6 provides some impressive competition for Ford's model. In both cases, two battery systems are available with either a single motor or a dual-motor setup, though Kia does not give you as many options. For starters, the Kia EV6 offers 167 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, which falls short of the Mustang Mach-E's standard 264 hp and 387 lb-ft of torque. On the high end, Kia delivers impressive power, though it lacks the remarkable amount of torque that Ford brings to the road.

In terms of range, things are again quite close, with the Mustang Mach-E coming in at up to 320 miles of range from a full charge, while the Kia EV6 tops out at an estimated 310 miles. There are numerous areas where Ford goes much further than Kia, however, such as the new Mustang Mach-E Rally edition that has been designed with all-electric off-road performance in mind. Similarly, you get much more room inside the Ford Mustang Mach-E, particularly for loading up with stuff: Ford gives you nearly 60 cu.ft. of total cargo capacity, while Kia offers just over 50 cu.ft. of total cargo space. When you add in things like the standard 15.5-inch infotainment display and more amazing technology in the Mustang Mach-E, it becomes clear that Ford continues to lead the team with its vehicles.

  • Performance

Great performance matters with any vehicle, even if you are looking at something like a compact SUV—though this is particularly true with a BEV. Many conventional compact SUVs have rather middling engines since they only need something powerful enough for a small vehicle. You can see this on some new BEVs, too, which is a shame because this is an opportunity for incredible power and exhilarating performance. This is something that Ford understands, and we are surprised to see Kia working hard to try to keep up (though they fall a bit short).

    The EV6's Performance Options

Kia offers a standard 58 kWh battery system and an improved 77.4 kWh battery. While they let drivers choose between one or two motors with the enhanced battery, the starting option only comes with a single motor. This results in a powertrain that delivers 167 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, which is honestly not as good as we would like to see. Fortunately, this gets elevated by the more powerful battery: a single motor delivers an improved 225 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, while a pair of motors puts out 320 hp and 446 lb-ft of torque. This is much better than the standard setup—to appreciate what Kia has done, the GT model delivers 545 lb-ft of torque for much-improved performance.

The Mustang Mach-E Simply Offers More Power

With the Mustang Mach-E, Ford showcases how well they understand the importance of delivering power and performance in their vehicles. The starting setup with the standard 72 kWh battery and a single motor delivers 264 hp and 387 lb-ft of torque. Comparing that to the standard option with the EV6, it is easy to see how far Ford surpasses Kia with this. The extended range 91 kWh battery with a single motor continues this trend with 290 hp and 387 lb-ft of torque, surpassing what the EV6 offers. Finally, the 2024 Mustang Mach-E GT, with its powerful battery and dual motors, delivers up to 700 lb-ft of torque, going further than anything Kia has to offer.

  • Capability

Impressive efficiency and the ability to go wherever you need are vital for any vehicle, but they are truly essential when you are looking for a terrific daily driver. A compact SUV can be perfect for this sort of thing, and the Ford Mustang Mach-E showcases that like no other vehicle out there. We can see that Kia has been working hard to make the EV6 as competitive as possible, with a range that nearly matches what the Mustang Mach-E can do, but Ford continues to push the envelope and go even further.

    Range

Looking at range, we have to consider the variety of options that both Kia and Ford offer; while Kia comes close to matching what Ford delivers, the Mustang Mach-E still comes out on top. For example, the Kia EV6, with its standard 58 kWh battery system and single motor, offers up to 232 miles of range from a full charge. By comparison, the starting 72 kWh battery and single-motor configuration for the Mustang Mach-E can get up to 250 miles of range from a full charge, letting you go further before you need to stop. Looking at the high-end, the Kia EV6 GT delivers powerful performance but sacrifices range, going up to 218 miles from a full charge; the high-performance Mustang Mach-E GT, however, gets an estimated 280 miles of range.

    The Mustang Mach-E Rally

Of course, range is only part of the equation with your vehicle—you also want it to be able to take you where you need to go. We like that both models have dual-motor setups available, giving you electric all-wheel drive performance that is great for dealing with rough weather or dirt roads. For the 2024 model year, however, Ford is taking things a step further with the new Rally model for the Mustang Mach-E. This Rally edition features a unique RallySport Drive Mode specifically designed for off-road driving, along with a raised and off-road-tuned MagneRide suspension, Oxford White 19-inch wheels, underbody shielding, and more features that ensure it is ready for the trail. Kia does not offer a comparable option, making the Mustang Mach-E more capable of leaving roads behind and taking you anywhere you want.

    The EV6's Cabin

When it comes to choosing the right vehicle, a few things are as important as the kinds of features and options you find inside it, along with the space you get to stretch out in and load up with everything you need. The 2024 Kia EV6 has just over 24 cu.ft of rear cargo space available, with about 50 cu.ft. of total cargo volume inside behind the front seats. This is decent for a compact SUV but not exceptional—it has two rows of seating available for up to five passengers, just like the Ford Mustang Mach-E. Inside the EV6, we find a 12.3-inch infotainment display, which is good considering small SUVs overall but not amazing; plus, some other good features are on offer across different trim levels that can elevate the overall experience for the driver and passengers.

The Mustang Mach-E's Spacious and Versatile Interior

Although the Mustang Mach-E is also a compact SUV, it gives you substantially more space for stuff and numerous features that are far superior. For starters, the Mustang Mach-E has almost 30 cu.ft. of rear cargo space for you to utilize, with nearly 60 cu.ft. of total cargo volume inside behind the front row. This is much more space for everything you need to take with you, plus you get a frunk with 4.7 cu.ft. of additional space, which is washable and features a drain, making it the perfect cooler for tailgating or camping. Combine this with the standard 15.5-inch infotainment display inside the Mustang Mach-E, and it is clear that Ford has gone above and beyond to deliver the best BEV compact SUV on the road.
