The 2024 Hyundai IONIQ 5 has a difficult time keeping up with the Mustang Mach-E when it comes to overall performance. First of all, there aren’t as many battery configurations available, which vastly limits your experience. The best the IONIQ 5 can do is 320 hp and 446 lb-ft of torque from its 77.4-kWh dual motor option. Although the IONIQ 5 is smooth and precise on the road, it’s not as exciting to drive as the Mustang Mach-E and doesn’t showcase any performance-oriented models like you’ll find with the Ford speedster either.

The IONIQ 5 offers all-wheel drive capabilities, as well as a bit more power in its AWD models; however, there is not currently an off-road ready model in the bunch.

Its cargo hold allows you to accommodate up to 59.7 cu.ft. of gear, while its front trunk, or frunk, offers an additional 4.7 cu.ft. of space. It can also be used as a cooler, as it’s made of plastic with a drain, so you can utilize it on camping trips, tailgates, and more. The IONIQ 5’s cargo hold isn’t much smaller than the Mach-E’s, offering up to 59.3 cu. ft. of space; however, the frunk is abysmal, only allowing an additional 0.85 cu. ft. of gear to accompany you on your journey.
There’s a Mustang Mach-E designed for everyone, with an abundance of trims to choose from to elevate your journey. Perhaps most exciting is the Rally, which is new this year and features a black painted roof, exclusive exterior graphics, 19-inch Oxford White wheels, and an aluminum underbody shield to protect it from the elements. Opt for the performance-oriented GT and enjoy more speed and power, Brembo front brakes with red calipers, a MagneRide Damping System to elevate comfort on the road, as well as Ford Performance front seats and a panoramic fixed-glass roof to create the ultimate ambiance inside. The 2024 Hyundai IONIQ 5 isn’t as impressive as the Mach-E; however, it still offers plenty of intuitive features designed to heighten the experience on board. Its standard 12.3-inch touchscreen provides access to all the apps you require, as well as voice recognition and wired-in Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which is a bit of a disappointment since most rivals offer wireless capabilities nowadays. You won’t find true hands-free driving capabilities like you will with Ford’s BlueCruise feature either.
